I co-direct a startup camp for journalists of color. We're funded by The Ford Foundation and it's designed to help those who want to become a CEO of their own company. Also, I'm a project manager and consultant for NPR based in Washington DC. During my previous 22 years at NPR, I created and managed a program designed to give college students and especially those of color, a chance to learn how to tell public radio style stories while being mentored one-to-one with a bootcamp. Today, dozens of former participants either through the internal program (Intern Edition) or external program (next generation radio) are working as public media professionals. Now, for NPR, I'm developing a 2.0 version of that program, targeting specific NPR member stations and assisting then develop talent through hands-on professional development, strategy and project implementation.
